APPLICATION OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE
NOTE: BIRTH CERTIFICATE FOR ADOPTED PERSONS ARE DONE IN NAIROBI.
Once you are done with the Court Process, you will be furnished with the following documents from the High Court;
- Judgement
- Court Order
From there, you apply for Adoption Certificate at the Children’s Department Office, Sheria House. (If you used a lawyer, some will process this for you. Depends with agreement)
After you get the Adoption Certificate, you will now have the following;
- Judgement
- Court Order
- Adoption Certificate
Write a letter to the Registra General, to confirm in writing that the Adoption Certificate you are issued with is genuine/authentic.
They will ask you to go back for the letter in one or two weeks. You need to follow up.
When you get the letter, you will need the following to apply for Birth Certificate
1. Adoption Certificate
2. The letter from the Registra General
3. Original ID of parent(s)
4. Court Order
5. Certificate declaring the child free for Adoption
6. Children’s Department Officer, home visit report
7. The previous Birth Certificate or Notification
If your child is from out of Nairobi, please go for the birth certificate at HAZZ PLAZA
If your child is from within Nairobi, please go to BISHOP’S PLAZA
